Some fog will likely be around during the late night and morning hours both Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, expect temperatures to reach close to 70 Friday and into the low 70s Saturday. There may be enough moisture to spark isolated showers Saturday. Right now, it looks like the best chance for some scattered showers will be Sunday. Highs Sunday are likely to be a little lower, in the mid to upper 60s.

After a mild New Year's Eve Monday, the coldest surge of air this season so far will move in on New Year's Day along with gusty northwest winds. Dry weather looks to be in store through the upcoming weekend, along with a gradual warmup.

A Mild Day

For today, there will be sunny blue skies with highs in the mid 70’s. It will be a little warmer on Monday before a cold front arrives Tuesday, bringing the coolest air of the fall season our way by Wednesday.

Tropics:

The National Hurricane Center has issued its last advisory on Hurricane Noel, although the system remains an intense winter-type low pressure area as it moves north-northeast, parallelling the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coastline. When a system transitions from tropical to non-tropical, the wind field spreads out more to the west of the storm center. Therefore, coastal locations of the northeast are in for a very windy Saturday. The storm should move into the Canadian Maritimes with hurricane force winds Saturday night.

A Nice Fall Weekend

For today, we will have a lot of sunny with breezy conditions. The high will be in the lower 70’s. Hurricane Noel will produce gusty winds along the coast with high surf and rough seas. A gale warring is in effect for today. For tonight, it will be a great night for football games; with clear skies lows will be 46-50. Saturday and Sunday we’ll have sunny blue skies with highs 72-74. I don’t see much in the way of rain anytime soon. The first of next week will be warm, but a strong cold front will pass through late Monday, the front will bring the coldest air of the season by Wednesday. Have a good Weekend!!

Tropics:

Hurricane Noel:

Noel is a hurricane this morning, but will become an extra-tropical storm by tonight/Saturday. Noel will bring strong winds to the New England coast by late tonight and Saturday. As Noel lifts northeast today it will run into cooler water temperatures and strong upper level winds. Since Noel will become extra-tropical, a much lager area will be affected by strong winds. In a hurricane the strongest winds are around the center (eye) of the storm, but for an extra-tropical low the winds are spread out much further away from the center. That is why there will be a much larger area affected by Noel. That was a little Meteorology 101 for you today.

Cooler and Breezy for Friday

The combination of a new area of high pressure building in to our north and "Noel" passing well to our east Friday will produce breezy conditions for our area, mainly along the coast. Otherwise, expect a good amount of sunshine and cooler temperatures for Friday, with highs struggling to get above 70. Friday night lows will drop to 45-50 under mostly clear skies. The weekend will be sunny with highs in the low 70s and a chilly Saturday night low in the 42-45 range.

Tropics:

"Noel" has become a category one hurricane and will continue to move quickly north -northeast on Friday, away from the Bahamas and staying well to our east. Still the combination of north flow behind the storm and new high pressure building in could produce gale force gusts over the outer portions of the coastal waters. The storm itself will transition to and strengthen as a very large winter-type low as it heads north, and latest track models show it bringing very windy conditions to portions of the northeast Saturday and possibly tracking into the Canadian Maritimes Saturday night with hurricane force winds and heavy rain.

Warm First Day of November

We will start the month of November off warm. Tuesday through Friday there will be a mix of sun and clouds. A warming trend will start tomorrow with highs in the lower 70’s. By the middle of the week temperatures will be in the mid 70’s. Have a good week!

Tropics:

Tropical Storm Noel (Knoll) developed this weekend just south of Haiti. The storm brought flooding rain to Haiti over the past two days. The tropical storm has lost some strength this morning. The storm will move into Atlantic and move over the Bahamas on Tuesday into Wednesday. A cold front will move off the southeast coast by the end of the week. The front will push the tropical storm northeast by Thursday.

Mostly Dry This Weekend

Some spots will see some drizzle overnight, otherwise the rain has pulled out of the area. After some wet weather Wednesday, we saw temperatures drop a few degrees and this cooler air will linger the next few days, especially with a fair amount of clouds around. Thursday looks dry, as the front that caused the rain pushes a little to our east. The amount of sun that we will see is questionable. A little sun should get our temperatures into the low to mid 70s. The front will creep back closer to us Thursday night, renewing some shower chances into Friday. Highs Friday should reach the low to mid 70s. Drier air should return for Saturday, with highs reaching the mid 70s under clouds and areas of sun. As of right now, I don’t see this being a problem to our area.

Occasional Wet Weather

Onshore breezes will continue to bring in clouds and some showers from off the ocean. The breezes will become lighter than they have been, so high surf conditions will improve. Wednesday looks to feature more clouds than sun with a few showers. Highs will reach near 84. Scattered showers can be expected Wednesday night and Thursday, with a low near 70 and highs to near 86. Expect warm and humid conditions for Friday and the weekend with a bit of an onshore breeze continuing. A few showers are possible again Friday, with less chance over the weekend. Highs should reach at least the mid 80s.

Tropics:

Low pressure is moving west of south Florida and is projected to move northwest through the Gulf of Mexico reaching the central or western Gulf coast late this week.
