Warmer for Friday

Despite some cloud cover, temperatures will continue to turn warmer for Friday and into the weekend. Some fog will likely be around during the late night and morning hours both Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, expect temperatures to reach close to 70 Friday and into the low 70s Saturday. There may be enough moisture to spark isolated showers Saturday. Right now, it looks like the best chance for some scattered showers will be Sunday. Highs Sunday are likely to be a little lower, in the mid to upper 60s.

After a mild New Year's Eve Monday, the coldest surge of air this season so far will move in on New Year's Day along with gusty northwest winds. It will be quite cold Tuesday night through Wednesday night; currently it looks like highs will struggle to get into the 40s Wednesday with lows well down into the 20s both Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Lows in the teens may occur in some areas away from the coast.

Turning Milder to Finish the Week

Cloud cover stuck around to keep it chilly on Wednesday. Expect a combination of warmer air and some sun on Thursday to bring our temperatures up a good bit. It looks like we should reach the mid 60s during the afternoon.

A series of disturbances will approach the area through Saturday and die out to our west, with some cloud cover affecting the area both Friday and Saturday. Despite some clouds, it looks like the air mass will be mild enough to support highs near 70. There is just a slight chance of showers for the beginning of the weekend, with a better looking chance on Sunday.

Some Rain on Christmas Day

Low pressure will develop to our east Tuesday and intensify as it moves northeast Tuesday night. Some rain is likely to develop in our area Tuesday afternoon and continue during the evening. The rain should move north of our area around midnight. The low will be moving away from us as it gets stronger, so the heavier rains associated with this system should occur further up the coast in South and North Carolina.

Temperatures should reach the mid to upper 50s Tuesday before the rain begins. Lows Tuesday night will be in the low 40s. Some sun should return Wednesday, with highs reaching near 60. A warming trend appears in store for Thursday and Friday.

Merry Christmas everyone!
