The Heat Index Climbs Again

Hotter temperatures have returned, and highs will remain in the mid to upper 90s through the end of the week. Each afternoon, the heat index is likely to be above 105. Rain chances look minimal through Friday. Computer models forecast the wind direction to change to the southeast this weekend, which should knock down our temps some.

Tropics:

A cluster of thunderstorms and gusty winds in the south-central Gulf of Mexico will move west-northwest towards the upper Mexican coast and south Texas. The system may become a tropical depression or storm before it reaches land.

The tropical depression in the eastern Atlantic is now Tropical Storm Dean. It is located about halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles and is moving quickly west. It should arrive at the entrance to the Caribbean Sea Friday night or Saturday, possibly as a hurricane. The most likely track after that through the weekend moves the storm towards the west-northwest, possibly moving close to the island of Hispaniola.
