A Little Cooler for the Weekend

* Heat Advisory * For today, there will be a mix of sun and clouds with scattered storms in the afternoon. The afternoon high will be 96, with a heat index of 105. For tonight, evening showers and storms, and some of the storms will be strong. The low for tonight will be near 74. The weekend will be a little cooler with highs in the lower/mid 90’s. There will be a slight chance for storms in the afternoon. Have a good weekend!

Tropics:

Hurricane Dean:

Dean is moving quickly across St. Lucia this morning. Dean is a category two storm. Dean will be a major hurricane by the weekend. The hurricane will continue on its westerly course through the weekend. Dean will pass just south of Jamaica on Sunday. The computer models take Dean over the northern tip of the Yucatan on Monday. The question will be after the five-day period. The track of Dean will depend on the strength of the high pressure to the north of the hurricane. If the high is strong enough the storm will move west across the Yucatan and into Mexico. If the high is weak, then Dean will bend to the north into the Gulf of Mexico, and make landfall along the Gulf coast states. The latest track form the hurricane center:
