Slightly Less Hot This Weekend

Temperatures will climb to the mid to upper 90s through Friday, with the heat index reaching near 105 each afternoon. Rain chances continue to look pretty low, but an isolated late day thunderstorm can't be ruled out. Highs should drop to near 94 Saturday and into the low 90s Sunday.

Tropics:

The feature in the Gulf of Mexico is now Tropical Storm Erin. It will continue to move west-northwest towards the lower Texas coast. It could strengthen a little before landfall, but not enough to become a hurricane.

Tropical Storm Dean continues to churn about 900 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. It will continue moving between west and west-northwest until it reaches the Caribbean by Saturday. There is fairly good agreement in the computer models that the storm will continue to track west-northwest across much of the Caribbean over the weekend and into next week. It should strengthen to a Category one hurricane on Thursday, and should continue to strengthen as it moves across the Caribbean this weekend; a dangerous situation for some areas possibly including Jamaica.
