Hot and Humid Today

We will have another hot day. The afternoon high will be near 97 with heat index near 105. There is a heat advisory in effect for today. There will be a slight chance for a stray thunderstorm in the afternoon. For tonight, partly cloudy, and muggy, and the low will be near 74. We’ll have one more hot day on Friday before a little cool down for the weekend. The high on Friday will be near 97. Saturday and Sunday there will be a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower/mid 90’s. A thunderstorm will be possible in the afternoon over the weekend. I’m sure everyone is glad to see temperatures back closer to average by the weekend.

Tropics:

Tropical Depression Erin: Erin has weakened to a tropical depression. Erin made landfall this morning near Lamar, Texas. Erin will continue to bring heavy rain to the coast of Texas for the next two days. Then Erin will become a remnant low by Saturday.

Hurricane Dean: Dean was upgraded to a hurricane this morning. As of 8 a.m. Dean had winds of 80 mph. Dean is quickly moving west at 24 mph. The hurricane will move quickly through the Caribbean Sea. The models are showing Dean will pass just south of Jamaica, and near the Yucatan by Tuesday as a category 4 hurricane. Beyond the five day forecast Dean should move west, and make his second landfall in Mexico.
