The Hot Weather Continues

* Heat Advisory for today * There will be a lot of sun through the day, and a slight chance for a stray thunderstorm in the afternoon. Today’s highs will be near 98 with the heat index near 105-110. For tonight, mostly clear skies with mild temperatures. The lows will be near 74. I don’t see much of a change in the weather for Wednesday through Friday. The highs for the week will stay in the upper 90’s. A cold front will move our way by the weekend; the front should cool things down closer to seasonal averages by Saturday and Sunday.

Tropics:

The tropics are very active. There are two areas we are watching right now. The tropical low that is near the Yucatan Peninsula has a chance to become tropical depression #5 later today. The low will bring heavy rain to Texas on Wednesday. The 2nd area is tropical depression #4. The tropical depression is moving very quickly in the open Atlantic. The depression should become a tropical storm (Dean) in the next few days. The low will be near the Leeward Islands by Sunday. The computer models all show a different track of the low after five days. Some take the system towards south Florida, and others up the east coast. Whatever track the low takes, we will be watching it very closely in the Future Trak weather center.
